From a Spirit-led vision in 1992 to a thriving discipleship center with national reach — this is the story of God's faithfulness through Promised Land CDC.
The Promised Land Christian Discipleship Center was established in 1992 in Spartanburg, South Carolina, under the apostolic leadership of Apostle Tommy E. Quick. Originally planted as the Spartanburg Christian Discipleship Center, the church was a direct response to the Holy Spirit's call to build a community centered on true discipleship — not just Sunday attendance, but whole-life transformation in Christ.
"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit."
Over the decades, the church grew into a full-expression community of faith — reaching families, training disciples, and pioneering outreach that extended far beyond Spartanburg. As the congregation deepened its commitment to family ministry, the vision for Christian Families Against Destructive Decisions (CFADD) was formally birthed and the church became its flagship home congregation.
Apostle Tommy E. Quick establishes the Spartanburg Christian Discipleship Center in Spartanburg, SC — answering a call to build a house of discipleship in the upstate of South Carolina.
The congregation takes on its current name — Promised Land Christian Discipleship Center — reflecting the vision of a people entering into their God-ordained inheritance.
Rooted in nearly five decades of pastoral family ministry by Apostle Quick, Christian Families Against Destructive Decisions (CFADD) is formally incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 2020 — giving national structure and reach to a mission that had already been transforming families for generations.
CFADD acquires a 127-acre historic riverfront campus in Pacolet, SC — a national gathering place for families, conferences, and kingdom-building encounters with God.
Promised Land CDC continues to serve Spartanburg and beyond — as a local church home, as the flagship CFADD congregation, and as a sending community for disciples across the nation.
Promised Land CDC is a church built on servant leadership — leaders who have walked through the fire and emerged with a testimony of God's redemptive power.
The ministry of Promised Land CDC was never just a pulpit — it was always a family. Apostle Tommy and Lady Valerie Quick, together with their children and grandchildren, are the living testimony of everything this church preaches: restoration, covenant, and the generational power of a family surrendered to God.
