First Lady Valerie H. Quick
Evangelist Valerie Horton Quick is the First Lady of the Promised Land COGIC in Spartanburg, SC and 60-year-old Christian novelist. Born and raised in the small town of Plymouth, North Carolina, with her parents, four brothers and strong family ties, Valerie gave her life to the Lord at the age of 13. She settled in Eastern North Carolina after receiving her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from East Carolina University.
In 1985, Valerie married God’s choice and the love of her life, Apostle Tommy E. Quick, her husband of 34 years. The couple lived in Rockingham, North Carolina, where through fervent prayer and intercession, she helped raise two step-children and bore three children. In 1992, this pioneering couple moved to Spartanburg, South Carolina, with their three small children to start a ministry that would be a catalyst for the preaching, teaching and evangelizing of the gospel of Jesus Christ. The Promised Land Church of God in Christ is a beacon in the Upstate of South Carolina. Valerie serves faithfully by her husband’s side and as the Directress of Women’s Ministry and a Faith-based nurse.
In addition to her work in the local church, she is the administrator for the church’s school, Legacy Christian School, that serves 3 months to 3rd grade and the Directress of Women Working the Word. Valerie serves on the North Carolina Third Jurisdiction’s Department of Women’s Executive, Advisory and Ordination Boards and the Executive Board; and is the Regional Director of the Administrative Assistant’s Wives Circle for the International Dept of Women of the COGIC. Valerie is no stranger to wearing multiple hats. While a dedicated wife and mother, as well as a committed servant in ministry, Valerie’s passion for nursing translated into an extensive list of accomplishments. She has held positions such as Critical Care Director and Nursing Instructor and has worked in several different areas of the medical field including: intensive care, open heart surgery, the K-12 education system, and congregational nursing. Her background and education have equipped her for faith-based nursing and the promotion of health and wellness in her large circle of influence.
This proud mother of five productive, sober and spiritually guided adults, grandmother of twelve and great grandmother of four, is armed with a powerful word from the Lord. Valerie endeavors to live a God First life as she intentionally lives out her life as God intended, as a Saint, pastor’s wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and many other roles. In her newest calling as an author, she desires first and foremost for God to get the glory. It is also her sincerest intention that while being entertained through the detailed unraveling of her stories, readers would be strengthened in their faith. She is set to complete her third heart stirring novel, The Blood Factor III, this year.
